How it works

660nm red light sits at the surface, working the dermal layer along the poll, crest, and topline.

850nm near infrared goes further, reaching past skin and into the deeper soft tissue of the neck where the surface light can't get to.

Run side by side, the combination covers both the part of the neck you can see and the part underneath that does most of the work.

Description

HaloHead wraps red and near-infrared light around the poll and neck, the area that tightens first from tack, trailering, and time in the stall. Two independent LED panels run 660nm and 850nm together, one covering the poll, one covering the neck, each with its own digital control panel so you can adjust both sections separately.

The neoprene outer shell flexes with him, the perforated inner layer keeps the panels against the coat, and the hook-and-loop strap adjusts to a range of neck sizes. Cordless, rechargeable, and ready to run in steady light or pulse mode.

Why the Poll and TMJ Matter

The TMJ, where the jaw meets the skull, is one of the most active joints in a horse's body and sits right next to the poll. It's easy to overlook because it's never the obvious sore spot, but tightness here can show up in small ways: a guarded look through the jaw, resistance to the bridle, headshyness, or a topline that never quite lets go.

None of that means something's wrong. It usually just means the area is working hard and rarely gets any attention. A few minutes of red and near-infrared light worked into a daily routine is one simple way to change that.

Recommended Use

Strap it on before you ride, after a long trailer day, or any time he's tight through the topline. One full charge runs a complete 1 hour session and takes an hour to charge back up over USB.

After each use, wipe the shell down with a soft, dry cloth, and use rubbing alcohol on a cloth for the LED panel itself. Store it flat or loosely rolled, never folded, and keep it away from heat and damp storage between uses.

Don't use it directly over an open wound or broken skin, don't use it if the panel looks damaged, don't point the light toward his eyes, and make sure his coat is dry before you start. Use it alongside, not instead of, whatever your vet already has planned. always know where and how to use it.

How do I know when to use it?

  • Stiffness after time in the stall or off the trailer
  • Tightness through the topline after a hard ride, or ahead of a demanding day
  • A long stretch spent standing tied or cross-tied
  • As part of a regular grooming routine, not only for the difficult days

Why Amateur to Pro Equestrians Choose HaloHead

From weekend riders to elite competitors, horse owners choose HaloHead for one simple reason:

It helps keep their horse's neck and poll feeling looser, more comfortable, and ready for daily work.

HaloHead delivers gentle red and near-infrared light support directly to the poll and neck, creating a soothing routine without medication or complicated setups.

What Makes Us Different

A poll cap covers one spot.
HaloHead covers three.

Most red light poll caps stop at the top of the head. They miss the neck, the jaw, and the TMJ the areas where tension actually travels.

HaloHead wraps from the poll down the full length of the neck, reaching the jaw joint where bridle resistance often starts.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does red light therapy help my horse's head?

Red and near-infrared light work together to support circulation in the poll, crest, and topline. 660nm reaches the surface, 850nm reaches the soft tissue underneath. Many owners use it as part of a routine to help the neck feel looser and more comfortable, especially after work or a long trailer ride.

When should I use HaloHead?

Most owners reach for it before riding to help him loosen up, after a hard ride or long trailer day, or just as a regular part of grooming. There's no strict schedule, it fits into whatever routine works for your horse.

Is it safe to use near his ears and poll?

HaloHead is designed to sit along the poll and upper neck, not directly over the ears. Keep it away from open wounds or broken skin, don't point the light toward the eyes, and check with your vet first if you have any concerns specific to your horse.

How quickly will I notice a difference?

Some owners notice a visible difference after the first session, though it varies by horse. Used consistently, it tends to become part of a noticeable before-and-after routine rather than a one-time fix.

Can I use it on older or sensitive horses?

Yes, it's drug free and non-invasive, which makes it a fit for seniors and horses already managing sensitivity. As always, it's meant to work alongside whatever your vet already has planned, not replace it.

Is HaloHead easy to put on and adjust?

The hook-and-loop strap adjusts to fit a range of neck sizes, so it goes on the same way every time, no fiddling with buckles or guesswork.

What if my horse is headshy or doesn't like things near his ears?

HaloHead sits along the poll and neck rather than over the ears themselves, so most headshy horses adjust quickly. Introduce it slowly the first few times, the way you would any new piece of tack, and let him get used to it at his own pace.

Customer photo review of HorseHalo™ HaloHead

My horse with TMJ has noticeably less head tossing and seems much more comfortable, since starting to use the Halo Headwrap. Pleased with the purchase.

My Bea totally relaxed and enjoyed the horsehalo all the time it was on, dropping her head and falling asleep

HorseHalo™ HaloHead

Customer video review of HorseHalo™ HaloHead

I have used this prior to my last 2 rides and my horse has been so pleasant and willing to stretch and respond to cues. Very easy to use and my horse, who is not always easy to deal with, has been very receptive to the treatment .

HorseHalo™ HaloHead

Customer photo review of HorseHalo™ HaloHead

My mare got flagged at a clinic for being tight through the neck and the clinician thought it was coming from the poll and jaw. Been using HaloHead consistently for a couple of weeks and went back to the same clinician last week. First thing she said was that the neck looked completely different, more through, more relaxed. That was the moment I stopped questioning the price.

HorseHalo™ HaloHead

Customer photo review of HorseHalo™ HaloHead

The one it's made the biggest difference on is my young dressage horse who always felt a bit blocked through the base of the neck no matter how good the work was. Started using HaloHead before flatwork and the difference is visible on video now. My trainer noticed before I said anything and asked what I'd changed in his management.

HorseHalo™ HaloHead

Customer photo review of HorseHalo™ HaloHead

Bought it because my friend wouldn't stop going on about it. My OTTB came off the track with a typical ex racehorse neck and getting a bridle on him used to be a whole thing every single time. That's basically resolved now. He's more accepting around his head and ears in general. My friend was right and I've already told her that.

HorseHalo™ HaloHead

Customer photo review of HorseHalo™ HaloHead

We have four horses and this thing gets passed around the whole barn. The biggest change has been in our OTTB who was completely locked through the poll when he came off the track. Headshy, difficult to bridle, the whole thing. It's really settled down. Still has his days but the general handling is so much easier now.

HorseHalo™ HaloHead

Customer photo review of HorseHalo™ HaloHead

My 16 year old mare has seen chiropractors, physios, had injections, the works. What I noticed first was how much she actually enjoys the sessions. She's not a horse that relaxes easily but she goes completely quiet when this is on, loose lip, soft eyes, standing still without being told. Her physio said her neck was the most mobile it had been in years. It's the only thing I've added to her routine.

HorseHalo™ HaloHead

Customer photo review of HorseHalo™ HaloHead

My gelding has been tight through the poll for as long as I've had him. Put HaloHead on the first evening and he just stood there, dropped his head and chilled out for the whole session. Rode him the next morning and the right rein felt noticeably softer. Been using it four or five times a week since and my instructor asked what I'd changed. She ordered one for her own horse two days later.

HorseHalo™ HaloHead

Customer photo review of HorseHalo™ HaloHead

OK so I was honestly not expecting much because I've spent a lot of money on things that didn't do anything. My mare has had this left rein thing forever and my trainer always said it was probably the poll or jaw. Been using HaloHead pretty consistently and that resistance has genuinely softened. Don't fully understand why but I'll take it.

HorseHalo™ HaloHead

Customer photo review of HorseHalo™ HaloHead

First time I put it on he literally dropped his head within like 2 minutes. That's not normal for him at all. Been using it before rides ever since and the bridle feel is just different now, less resistant, more relaxed through the contact. Love that the two panels let me focus more on his lower neck because that's always where he carries his tension.

HorseHalo™ HaloHead

The halo head is brilliant. My horse has always suffered from a sore poll and he would never let the Physio completely release the pressure. Since using the halo head she noticed that he was much softer and allowed her to work her magic. He feels so much better especially when doing lateral work.

HorseHalo™ HaloHead

my horse really loves the redlight horsehalo head mat. I wish it came with more detailed instructions.

HorseHalo™ HaloHead

Well constructed and easy to operate. Do wish it came with one more long velcro strap to hold down thru neck. But thats easy enough to add
